Rivers and Recreation for Stand up Paddle Boarding Dry suits, PFDs, footwear and River SUP included in price! Plan on paddling on the river this season? Looking for the skills to play safely in and out of the current? Do you want to understand how to identify hazards and what skills help you avoid them? Description: Day one will start in calm waters where participants will practice and gain the foundation set of skills needed to safely advance into moving water. A full day will be spent on moving water learning and practicing flow basics, and then applying them down river. The course focuses on personal safety and managing hazards on the river using skills learned. Goal: The aim of the clinic is to establish essential basic flat-water skills and get participants applying them comfortably to moving water. By developing knowledge of basic river features and paddling maneuvers participants will learn to navigate in a simple but dynamic river environment. Results: After completing this course, participants can expect to feel comfortable applying skills to a personal (unguided) SUP trip on class 1 rivers. They will also develop an understanding of the potential hazards the river poses, along with a variety of new skills that can be applied to the moving water environment. Details Environment: Lake to River Duration: 8 hours each day = 6 hr calm water, 8 hrs river instruction Cost: $450 per person includes SUP, Dry Suit, PFD, Skills Level: Intermediate Progress Ages: 12+ ( 12+ accompanied by parent/guardian, Children (12-18) and youth (under the age of 18) must have own PFD) Pre-Requisites: Intro to SUP or SUP for beginners or similar experience (10hrs paddling) Gear Required: Board, Quick Release Leash , Paddle, PFD, Helmet, (All gear can be provided) Clayton, we will need to discuss thermal protection if it will be provided. Mandatory RIVER wear brought by participant: Instructor to # of Students: 1:5 (Minimum 2 students Maximum 5)
