Intermediate Canoe Skills

Service Description

To prepare for your future adventures in a canoe. This course is focused on solidifying your skills to become independent and confident on the lakes and rivers. In an effort tot be comprehensive we will start from the basics and build up into advanced skills and concepts. Then step it back to reinforce things at the intermediate level. You can expect to find the following subject matter in this course Equipment and gear review -Canoe design and outfitting -Safety equipment and use -Safe operations in the river and lake environment -Paddle strokes review, fundamentals and correction -Maneuvers for flat water and moving water -Paddling partner and group dynamics -Heuristic traps and avoidance -Self rescue and partner rescue -Advanced maneuver introduction (as tolerated by the group) -Big water management -Medical emergencies and hypothermia management In addition there is an opportunity to review expedition skills like loading and trimming boats, planning for weather, managing larger groups and youth. Dates and locations can be modified to fit your needs.

Cancellation Policy

To cancel or reschedule please contact us at least 1 week in advance. Cancelations 2 weeks in advance will receive full refund. Cancellations before one week 1 week deadline but after the two week cut off will incur a 20% admin fee. Last minute cancelations and no shows will have full booking fee retained. Exceptions will be made for special circumstances. We reserve to right to cancel for unsafe weather and river conditions with less than 24hrs of notice. Full refund granted for cancelations due to weather or restrictions, BECAUSE WE ARE AWESOME!
