This course will be directed towards river recreationalists, covering the skills that are sought after for safety in the activities of rafting, SUP, kayak and canoeing on our rivers in Canada. Focused on evidence based subject matter we deliver the tools that are proven to be highly effective. We take a flexible approach to round table discussions so as to ensure all questions are answered and learning styles addressed. Expect the following to be covered on this course: Hazard assessment and mitigation. Swimming effectively for all water and situations Communication and communication tools Ropes and knots basic and advanced Body entrapment Equipment entrapment Self rescue, companion rescue, equipment recovery. Line across techniques Throw bag techniques There is much care taken to provide a safe experience where everyone feels they are comfortable and able to learn. For those who don't have the equipment there is gear available to use or rent for maximum comfort in our frigid waters. We will be working on the local rivers closest to Calgary and Canmore that allow for the best training and experience overall.Due to permit constraints the Kananaskis River is not available during peak time of the year and on weekends travel may be required.
To cancel or reschedule please contact us at least 1 week in advance. Cancelations 2 weeks in advance will receive full refund. Cancellations before one week 1 week deadline but after the two week cut off will incur a 20% admin fee. Last minute cancelations and no shows will have full booking fee retained. Exceptions will be made for special circumstances. We reserve to right to cancel for unsafe weather and river conditions with less than 24hrs of notice. Full refund granted for cancelations due to weather or restrictions, BECAUSE WE ARE AWESOME!
